Politics Schmolitics.

This was a Facebook thread I was minimally a part of this afternoon:

GAC Dear Obama, Fuck you. You're a disgrace.

GAC

LMAO! Do I sense a bit of hatred?

Just a little bit. He makes America look more ridiculous everyday than it did the day before I NEVER thought that was possible after Bush. My comment when he got elected was "Anything is better than Bush". I was wrong.

I totally understand how you feel. I was like "ANYONE CAN DO BETTER THAN BUSH... I KNOW 3RD GRADERS WITH MORE ORDER!!" I just hope he picks us up. I mean it took us 8 years to get to this and it's deff going to take more than that to get out.. lets just hope hes the man that can do this

It's easy to destroy something but difficult to fix it when your not the one responsible for the destruction. "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."

OMG...i said the same thing.."anyone but bush". It is funny watching people defend those who steal $, rights, and freedoms from them. Bush was a facist and and a moron, and I thought Obama was just a standard liberal Socialist...but since he started taking over industries, he's starting to look more like a Communist. It's unfortunate.

Ok I did vote. And I voted for Obama (mistake). 2. I technically can't say shit because he is my boss (to a certain extent). &3. I am in the military serving for our country.

@Gregory Can i just say though how refreshing it is to see someone who is young and gay who isn't blinded by idealism and culture to defend a person, instead of a belief like so many people who prattle on about Obama's outstanding leadership.

I'm just interested in hearing what those who are opposed to Obama are specifically against. Making blanket statements and not giving reason, evidence, support and explanation isn't the least bit progressive. And if you don't like something, how would you specifically do things differently? I think calm intelligent discourse is much more effective than brash angry comments. Nothing closes my ears faster.

And by the way Greg, I apologize for the barrage of comments that have attacked your wall, heh.

this isn't quite the forum for my op-ed, so forgive me if I don't want to debate the flaws in not only the presidents actions, but also in his altruistic and socialist premise that guides his hand to force the masses to live by his code of what he thinks is right. If you want to have a debate, start a meetup, talk with a friend, don't just ... challenge everyone who opposes Obama to PROVE to you why they're right...honestly if you need that kind of proof, then you're going to need to do a lot more homework before you're on par to debate with me. PS. Sorry about spelling & Grammatical errors...my iPhone doesn't like my stubby fingers today :)

Ok. So here's where my beef really lies. Honestly, I don't know that much about politics. Generally I pick the things I want to know about and look into them, but that's really it. After this, I definitely would like to get more involved. The thing that really bothers me about this whole thread isn't that people are unhappy with Obama's presidency. It's that people will just hop onto a VERY public and widely seen forum site, post these brash statuses and comments, and then not back them up. Take responsibility for what you're saying. You could argue that it's just a social site, and comments and statuses are meant to be taken lightheartedly or not taken seriously. Well I'm sorry but I strongly disagree. In a world where political figures are quoted on Twitter we shouldn't expect any less. I got too worked up to respond again on the thread, and felt it would take too much to explain myself, so I messaged JM personally, nicely explaining all that I just wrote above. I also asked him to tell me if he had a blog he wrote on about his views, because I would be interested in reading it and learning more about people's views.

I think because I am so ignorant when it comes to politics that I become easily upset.

I'm way too sensitive for politics.

I think youre right on with your thoughts and youre not as ignorant of politics as you may think.

This is what 24 hours "news" and opinion programing is doing to public discourse
